Well, not really. I just wanted to reveal my new favorite thing to do when I'm bored...which is reading the endings of really bad movies, movies I wouldn't pay to watch, let alone sit for 2 hours for. It's kinda awesome and fun. Movies I read today: Disturbia, Fantastic Four: The Silver Surfer one, The Pacifier, Battlefield Earth (oh, man!), Ballistic: Eck vs. Severs, and Queen of the Damned. It just goes on and on. I am so amused. I found a pretty good site for spoilers (The Movie Spoiler), but it's ad-heavy. Gotta pay for spoiling the movies somehow, right?

Wiki-moving.

I was going to post about my work place moving to a new building and how nice it is but rereading the post, I bored myself to tears, so I deleted it. No need to bore you, too.

What I decided to post instead is my Wikipedia search path of the day. You know how it is, when you start looking things up on Wikipedia and then you wind up on the most interesting journey...

Dolphins: A radio listener called the station to inform us that we were incorrectly stating that dolphins are not whales. They are whales, toothed whales, in fact. Wiki-check: The listener is correct, and we are wrong.

Which lead to...

Dolphins save swimmers from sharks! That is so cool. As if there weren't already enough reasons to love dolphins.

And then...

Porpoises: I didn't know there was a distinction. Also! Dolphins and Whales sometimes have babies together and they're called Wolphins! Okay, this is unrelated to porpoises but I thought I'd point that out.

Which lead to...

SeaQuest: They had a talking dolphin on the show. His name was Darwin.

Also, R.I.P. Jonathan Brandis. You were the only reason I watched that crappy show.

What's more, did you know he was the voice for...

Mozenrath: A "young, evil sorceror and necromancer," one of the villains in the Disney TV series Aladdin. You know that slimy weird little eel thing that was always hanging around him? It's name was Xerxes...

Funny, they don't mention the piercings or the mutants, but there are mutants on...

The X-Men: Remember that awesome cartoon on Saturday mornings on Fox. The one from the 90's when they were still colorful and The Phoenix storyline actually involved aliens! Those were the days.

Which made me think of zombies and then, Shaun of the Dead, which is the funniest zombie movie ever. Their newest movie, Hot Fuzz, is also very funny but not as great as Shaun of the Dead.

Okay, I think this is enough Wiki-madness for one day. I managed to cram 15 magical links to Wikipedia in just one post.

Flaming tin hearts, Virgin of Guadalupes, and Aztec Maidens

My love of kitsch and folk/religious art was initiated by the awesome El Otro Lado which once lived in Porter Square. The store then moved to Central Square where it married Buckaroos (a truly camped out utopia that used to live in Inman Square), took it's name, and became a little of the best of both. These kinds of places are abound in New York but in Mass, they are few and far between. Where else can I get my Virgin of Gaudalupe potholders or pin-up girl coasters?

There's also Nomad in Porter Square, which is more folky than kitschy, but you can still get a rad hand-painted alter or Frida Kahlo compact. Both stores are awesome in their own way and I wouldn't pick one over the other.

I'm just saying, if you're spending the day in Cambridge and want to walk the expanse of Mass Ave between Central Square and Porter Square, you can hit both stores along the way. Now that I think about it, my next post is going to be "My perfect Cambridge day."

My lovely Lola pointed Etsy out to me, "Your place to buy & sell all things handmade." I'm a fan of craftsters of all stripes so this is like my dream site (well, there's also Craftster but that's a post for another day). I just spent an hour trolling its colorful virtual aisles and my wallet is calling to me. CALLING.

The site's layout itself is design heaven. Categories are grouped in unexpected, fun ways. You can browse by color, hand-picked favorites from their members, top-sellers, location of sellers and the mysterious, "Time Machine."

The color bubbles trail my mouse. So pretty.

I love this gal's illustrations. Her artwork reminds me of a quiet jubilant girl who doodles in the corners of her notebooks and dreams about ocean adventures. The best kind of girl.
